The Presence of Light
In my childhood home, candles were part of everyday life. A small, recurring gesture. A flame present in the room.
At the beginning of a new day or at its end, I light a candle. A simple ritual. It helps me find a state of mind that I carry with me into the day or into the night.
The flame is small, yet it carries a quiet strength. This sculpture seeks to approach that strength and that presence. Not to control it, but to gently and humbly lift it, and hold it in balance.
Between Light was sculpted in clay at my studio in Beijing. Winter 2025-26
Bronze
The sculpture is casted in bronze at a traditional art foundry, and produced to the highest international standards of fine art craftsmanship.
Edition Size
This sculpture relates closely to my other works, but differs in that it is designed to hold candles. To highlight this difference, I have chosen to create it in a higher edition, making it more affordable and accessible.
Candle Fitting
This candle fitting was designed specifically for the sculpture Between Light. It is made in solid brass and can be unscrewed from the holder, making it easy to clean from melted candle wax.
